The Life-Changing Power of Saying “Why Not?”

If you went back in time 45 years to that spotty, insecure, shy, bullied teenager that I was and said,

”Hey Mark, in 45 years, you are going to be living in the south of Spain with Julio Iglesias as a close neighbour and two former Premier League Captains as friends, and all this will be possible because you write whatever comes into your head.”

I’d have laughed at you, as would anyone else who knew me.

But by the time I was 18 I’d learned to stop worrying and just take action everything would usually turn out ok… and that changed everything…

Taking Action Changes Everything

A+C=S (Most of the time!)

Let’s not beat around the bush A+C=S stands for:

Action Plus Consistency Equals Success, but you probably guessed that. It’s just the usual marketing hype; it means nothing unless you apply it.

At the age of 18, I left a good job with prospects in a bank and headed to France with a rucksack and a few pairs of pants.

I hadn’t planned it out, and 2 days before, I hadn’t thought about it!

I took action

As a result, I lived in the south of France and had, without a doubt, some of the most amazing experiences a shy teenager with a total lack of common sense could have had.

I left the UK as a naive teenager and returned as a confident man who then had an amazing Army career for the following 12 years.

None of that would have happened if I hadn’t taken action.

Everything I have achieved through life has resulted from taking Action and then refusing to give up until I’ve either made a success of it or couldn’t do anything more.

That’s where the consistency comes in.

You need to take repeatable actions every day, day after day, even if you are bored and can’t see any reason for it.

It Works

Three weeks ago, I decided to live-stream game content and record it in the afternoons while I was messing around on my Xbox so I could put out some videos on a long-dead channel.

I was playing the games anyway, and it doesn’t take much to go live on YouTube, so why not.

Anyway, no one would want to watch an old bloke mess up games and get beat, would they? (plus it gave me a reason to play games and not do things around the house! Sorry darling, I can’t grout the tiles. I’m live streaming”😀)

But it seems maybe do what to watch an old guy get embarrassed regularly!

I took action and published content every day, and things happened.

I have no idea where this will go, but yesterday, I spent the afternoon streaming gameplay and chatting with the people who were watching me get my ass handed to me.

People from around the world are of all different ages and backgrounds.

It was fun!
